Effective date: 19 October 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of etherealplaces.com (the “Site”), operated by Ethereal Places (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
What the Site is
Ethereal Places is a travel inspiration and planning publication. We write about real places and how to visit them. Everything on the Site is general information for your personal, non-commercial use. It is not professional travel, safety, legal, financial or medical advice, and it is not a booking service. When you book accommodation, transport, tours or anything else through a link on the Site, your contract is with that provider, not with us.
Accuracy and change
We work hard to be accurate, and our Editorial Policy explains how we research and update articles. But places change: opening hours, prices, seasons, access rules, visa requirements and safety conditions can all move after an article is published. Always confirm the details that matter to you with official sources before you travel, and read our Disclaimer for more on this.
Intellectual property
The text, photographs, graphics, logos and design of the Site are owned by Ethereal Places or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may view, share links to and print pages for personal use. You may not copy, republish, scrape, sell or otherwise reuse our content, in whole or in part, without written permission, except for brief quotations with a clear credit and link back to the original article.
Where we use photographs or other material created by others, we do so under licence or in reliance on a legal exception, with credit where required. If you believe your work appears on the Site without proper permission, please contact us with the details and we will respond promptly.
Using the Site
You agree not to:
- use the Site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone’s rights;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its server or any connected system;
- use automated tools to scrape or harvest content or data from the Site at a scale beyond ordinary personal browsing;
- introduce malware or interfere with the Site’s operation;
- impersonate us or anyone else, or misrepresent your connection with the Site.
Comments and submissions
If the Site allows comments or you send us content (for example a photo, a tip or a correction), you confirm that you have the right to share it and you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, edit and publish it in connection with the Site. We may remove comments that are abusive, spam, off-topic or otherwise inappropriate, at our discretion. Comments reflect the views of their authors, not ours.
Affiliate links and advertising
The Site contains affiliate links and may display advertising. If you buy something through an affiliate link we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not influence which places we recommend; see our Disclaimer for details.
Links to third-party sites
We link to many external websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ethereal Places and its owner will not be liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content, including travel decisions made on the basis of information published here. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Ethereal Places is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
