This page explains, as plainly as we can, what you should and should not rely on when you read etherealplaces.com, and how we make money.
We write about real places, but places change
Every article on this Site is researched before it is published and checked against official sources such as tourism boards, national park services, transport operators and venue websites. Our Editorial Policy describes the process. Even so, travel information goes out of date quickly: opening hours shift with the season, prices rise, trails close for repair, ferry timetables change, visa rules are rewritten and weather does what it likes.
Please treat our articles as a starting point, not the final word. Before you book or set off, confirm the details that matter to you directly with the venue, operator or official authority. We show a “last updated” date on every article so you can judge how fresh it is, and we welcome corrections through the contact page.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this Site is professional travel, safety, medical, legal, financial, immigration or insurance advice. Decisions about where to go, whether a trip is safe for you, what insurance to buy and which rules apply to your nationality are yours to make, ideally with advice from the relevant professionals and your government’s travel guidance.
Outdoor and remote travel carries risk
Many of the places we write about are remote, high, cold, hot, wet or otherwise demanding: mountain passes, sea cliffs, deserts, caves, frozen lakes and Arctic regions. Conditions can be dangerous and can change within hours. You are responsible for assessing your own ability, carrying suitable equipment, checking local conditions and following the guidance of local authorities and guides. We are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage that results from visiting a place described on this Site.
